Makeup Trends 2016

Bright Complexion

Lately the matte look is not really in and we are perfectly happy with that. Furthermore, it is all about the almost highlighted luminous skin, the one where it shows you are healthy, get your Vitamin D and sweat a lot.

Extreme Wings and Cat Eyes

The basic and most simple trick to make your eyes look more attractive is to add more length and wings to the eyes to make your eyes pop.

High Shine Lips

Lips in different colors appear, and most of all in high shine, with a high definition effect to them as well. It is hard not to fall in love with these pouts for they make for a great pucker and even better kiss. Jean Paul Gaultier’s red-orange lips certainly drew our attention. At Chanel, the high shine lips feature a peach tone that is quite delectable unto itself. The shine also comes in nude, as per Atelier Versace.

Pink Lips

Pretty in Pink has a whole new meaning as seen at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, appearing all over in lovely shades that scream ice and loveliness, showing the thawing of the rosebud after the winter freeze. It appears paired with double liners and luminous skin at Giorgio Armani Prive, with a subtler effect that is much more natural at Giambattista Valli. Ralph & Russo’s ballerina pink lips were just plain perfect.

Double or Triple Lines on the Eyes

At Giorgio Armani Prive, the eyeliner is drawn on not just once, but twice. It appears at the edge of the lid as well as at the crease, creative, a much more dramatic look and redefining the way in which those orbs actually look. It is a nod to ‘40s Hollywood glamour and something we absolutely love. Chanel gave us triple lines, one at the crease, one underneath and one normally at the ends of the top lid. It is dramatic, it is winged and it is positively Chanel.

Scarlet Lips

The shiny lips are more to everyone’s liking it appears, as most designers opt for the gloss, but those like Christian Dior move away from the youthful prettiness of shine and concentrate on the sultry maturity of matt lips, particularly in red hues.

Double Coated Mascara

Whether we are looking at the makeup artistry at Christian Dior, Valentino, Chanel or others, there seems to be a return to the simple mascara, with double coats for proper coverage and that is about it. Nothing crazy and not left without at least a single coat either. For those of us who barely changed our typical styles, this really is a lucky break. Makes life so much easier to look good when the fashion shows follow your own personal style.

Thick Brows

Since the couture collection has been focusing more on the graphic, the dramatic and the naturally sublime, it makes sense to keep the brows nice and thick, with dark and brushed out effects as per Giorgio Armani Prive, or neatly bushed to the ends as per the Valentino presentation. Giambattista Valli’s brows had a more natural flavor to them, not filled in or even plucked, left as such to appear all the more attractive.
